Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
